Fly into the World of owls, hawks and falcons…
We may not be the biggest Birds of Prey Centre in Lincolnshire, but we are perhaps one of the friendliest! We offer you the opportunity to get up close and discover what makes these birds masters of the skies.
Skilled handlers will explain why the birds hunt and fly as they do, where they come from in the wild and how they are trained. |

Introduce yourselves to Orrie, our European Eagle Owl, hand reared and meet his lady friend, Ollie!
Or say hello to the two Harris Hawks, Tally and Neo, a breeding pair who could take you on a Hunting day - a unique opportunity to observe a bird of prey hunting free, gracefully flying from tree to tree.
Willie, the snowy owl - born last year, is hand reared and currently "in training" and Rhia is the peregrine. Watch out for Zea our prairie cross falcon or Lizzie the lagger saker falcon.
Our other birds include Zulu and Missy – a breeding pair of African Barn owls, a pair of boobok owls – Bonnie and Betty, a pair of Barn and Tawny Owls and a pair of Great Horned Owls as well as little owls and a kestrel.
Birds of Prey Demonstrations |
Demonstrations, subject to weather, are planned daily with an opportunity to “Meet the Birds”.
Equally for school visits we can involve the birds in a simple but effective method of learning – as an example how about a game of Name that Bird or Colour Coded Creatures.

Schools Working with the Birds of Prey |
Name that Bird (Key Stage 2)
The Falconer will give a short talk on a species of bird, for example Willie our Snowy Owl or the Barn Owls, then from the information given a more creative name can be “invented” – for example “Christmas Owl” or for a Barn Owl, the “Night Ghost”. This encourages the asking of questions and information seeking, observation and imagination.

Colour Coded Creatures (Key stage1)
Study the plumage and feathering of the birds – at first the plumage may appear to be one colour or just brown – but is it?
This study of around 45 minutes duration offers the chance to look closer and to identify birds of different appearance and colour. This study will encourage observational skills, counting and recording results as well as working together in a team and can easily be carried over into the classroom on return to school.
