Birds of Prey
The Owls and the Hawks… |
We have 2 areas for our hawks and owls – the weathering lawn is where the trained hawks are placed on bow perches in order to sun themselves ( we hope the sun comes out anyway…) bathe and relax.
This helps to stimulate the birds to preen which increases their ability to resist water logging as well as maintaining their flight feathers in top condition. |

The aviaries are located either side of the entrance and this is home to amongst others - Cleo – a redtail hawk, the Long Eared Owls and European Eagle Owls.
Willie the Snowy Owl is the first one you will meet walking up to the animal areas entrance.
Oscar and Essex have their own “barn” opposite the entrance to Albert’s Hall.
Visitors are invited to take their time to watch and by standing back behind the barrier you may well observe interesting behaviour – some are a little shy when faced with an audience so be patient…

Working with Schools and Children - Birds of Prey |
Rushmoor run course days for children who would like to be Young Falconers.
This course is a half day course from 9.30 till 12.30 for 12-16 year olds - a hands on introduction and behind the scenes look at the world of falconry
or a Junior Owl Encounter for 8-12 year olds - a short 1 hour session to include hands on flying with the Booboks and Barn owls. |

Demonstrations daily
– one with the Owls and one with the Hawks both of which will involve audience participation. Find out the origin and background of the birds – how they hunt and how they are trained – flying and static demonstrations – hold a bird on the glove and see them flying to you – don’t forget your camera to record the moment
This is not simply a display or lesson where a falconer talks at you – this is a unique hands on one to one 3 hour session which will introduce you to how birds are trained, the language of falconry, how to handle and fly the hawks and owls –there is nothing to match the feeling when a bird flies to your glove for the first time…
For all owl lovers this is a real immersion into the lives of these beautiful and engaging birds – owls are a real enigma and they undoubtedly stir great passion in many of us.
The owls you will fly have been bred, raised and trained here and thus they trust us totally and enjoy our company – from the smallest boobok to the largest European not forgetting the totally lovable and characterful Barn owls. |
We also do photographic groups or individuals, school visits, children's parties and a choice of gift vouchers – so if you want to hoot with owls and hunt with hawks ask us for our leaflet or fill in the Enquiry Form and we can email it out to you..
