Fly into the World of owls, hawks and falcons…
We may not be the biggest Birds of Prey Centre in Lincolnshire, but we are perhaps one of the friendliest! We offer you the opportunity to get up close and discover what makes these birds masters of the skies.
Skilled handlers will explain why the birds hunt and fly as they do, where they come from in the wild and how they are trained. |

Willie, the snowy owl – born 2008, is hand reared as are Essex and Oscar the 2 barn owls born here in 2009 – both will be demonstrating in the park this year as will Socs and Lizzie.
For the smaller enthusiast we have our little Boobok owls – Betty and Bonnie – just the right size for the younger visitor!
In total we have around 20 birds here – falcons, owls and hawks and if you would like the opportunity to have a couple of hours with our falconer to really capture these birds on film just book a photographic experience with us – either as a corporate event or an individual – a truly unique opportunity to get some fantastic pictures.
Birds of Prey Demonstrations |
Demonstrations, subject to weather, are planned daily with an opportunity to “Meet the Birds”.

Working with Schools and Children - Birds of Prey |
Rushmoor run course days for children who would like to be Young Falconers.
This course, which runs over half a day from around 10.00 to 2.00 is for those aged around 10 to 16 who want to know a little about the world of falconry. This course will run for one day in each week of the school holidays – if you wish to book please contact us to check availability - we do have a limit on places.
Name that Bird (Key Stage 2)
The Falconer will give a short talk on a species of bird, for example Willie our Snowy Owl or the Barn Owls, then from the information given a more creative name can be “invented” – for example “Christmas Owl” or for a Barn Owl, the “Night Ghost”. This encourages the asking of questions and information seeking, observation and imagination.

Key Stage 3
We have now introduced a course involving Birds of Prey aimed at the older students with particular relation to Key Stage 3 - Science: units 7B, 7C and 8D– and opportunities for cross curricular links.
The aim of the course - besides being engaging and purposeful - is to fit in with National Curriculum guidelines on animal classification, how birds of prey fit into the ECO system, how they survive and where they come from, how they have adapted to survive as natural hunting grounds become scarcer - and how Nature copes with climate change.
In addition the course would support
|
- literacy skills, through discussion and the use of scientific vocabulary and terminology
- numeracy skills, through obtaining, recording and analysing data
- ICT skills, through using data logging and analysis, internet research,
- modelling and simulation software, and appropriate methods for communicating scientific information.
- Assist in developing the skills and qualities that learners need to succeed in school and the broader community
- Please contact us for full details

Colour Coded Creatures (Key stage1)
Study the plumage and feathering of the birds – at first the plumage may appear to be one colour or just brown – but is it?
This study of around 45 minutes duration offers the chance to look closer and to identify birds of different appearance and colour.
This study will encourage observational skills, counting and recording results as well as working together in a team and can easily be carried over into the classroom on return to school.
